Buildings for Worship
A Hindu temple is a site for personal devotion rather than a place where many worshippers gather for services. Temples will have an enthroned statue of the god or goddess to whom the place is dedicated, and often of the patron’s consort and other deities too. Worshippers offer gifts of food, fire and water as they make their devotions. Rivers are also considered sacred; many Hindus go on pilgrimage to the Ganges. There are five Hindu temples in Wales, including two in Cardiff.
